As part owner of Shahr, Francisco serves as the facilitator of the wellness center. Once he earned his entrepreneurial and humanities degree from the University of Connecticut, Francisco moved back to the bayous of Florida to undergo his spiritual education. It was during this time that he found the balance between physical beauty and internal enlightenment. As a spiritual mentor, he led meditations and readings in his living room. As a certified personal trainer, Francisco met regularly with individuals to guide them on physical transformations. Over the course of time, the two groups began to merge. Those who experienced a strengthening of the body wanted to strengthen their personal connection with what lies within. When the meditations outgrew the space it was time to manifest a center large enough to house a community. The soil was fertile for planting the seeds of Shahr. Francisco faciliates several classes at Shahr including Tarot, Readings, and Astrology
|Jessica has had the pleasure of practicing Yoga for the last 5 years and the honor of teaching and sharing my adoration of the practice since early 2012. She believes Yoga is an expression of creativity and love. Through the ups and downs of life she has found her practice more and more meaningful because it is my own and each day is different. And each person is different. On the mat there is no judgment, no right or wrong. She encourages her students to stay present on their mats and honor themselves for where they are today in the Hear and Now. During a difficult time, she was called to deepen her practice and to help others heal through the power of Yoga’s philosophy and asana practice. It is a life-long journey and she is constantly growing, learning, and sharing this journey with all of you. Shanti!|
|Co-Founder & Creator of the Awakened Warrior Teacher Training||Michael first discovered yoga 11 years ago when he moved to L.A. from N.Y. A friend of his took him to a ‘living room’ yoga class, within minutes into the class he was hooked!! As a 2nd degree blackbelt, he had studied & taught karate for over 10 years while living in the Bronx, the similarities between yoga & the martial arts are incredible; from the breathing, balance, flexibility, meditation, concentration, everything but the ego!! Certified under the instruction of Andrew Tanner, Michael opened one of the first yoga studios in the Bronx called “Bamboomoves” (later became “Excel Yoga Dance & Fitness”). Passionate and inspired to help the Bronx community, his Graduation from his yoga teacher training coincided on the same day as the Grand Opening of his brand new studio. ”My vision was to Heal, Empower and Transform (H.E.A.T.) people with the power of yoga. But in order to do so on a much larger scale, I needed a new generation of leaders. So I created my own teacher training – one that incorporated the philosophies & teachings of yoga with the discipline and power of the martial arts – “The Awakened Warrior Yoga Teacher Training” does just that. And now I’m excited to offer this incredible teacher training here at Shahr.”|
|Tess’s yoga practice transformed when she moved to Los Angeles in 2010. In 2012, she completed Studio Surya’s 200 Hour Teacher Training, under the guidance of Yonnus Becker, Mary Beth LaRue, Courtney Harms, Caley Yavorsky, Beth Prandini and Kiyomi Takahashi. Her journey into wellness through yoga began in 2004 in Portland, Oregon, when she discovered the practice through free classes her college offered. Yoga healed and addressed Tess’s myriad of health concerns at the time, both psychologically and physically, and so she began to go to classes regularly. This later took her to various yoga studios, where she tried Kundalini, vinyasa, Ashtanga, yin and gentle hatha classes. Her favorite classes were often those that fused multiple styles, and this would later inform her own yoga classes.Tess fuses the joy and bliss of letting go in vinyasa flow with a love of alignment and anatomy, diving deep in stillness and letting the breath guide movement. She brings empathy and warmth to all levels of yoga student, recognizing that each day, each moment and each breath offer new opportunities to deepen and connect to that place within that is always steady.|
